 How's it going,

I own a 2004 Escalade Esv w/ (factory) navigation system. I want to install a flip out monitor, but I don't want to loose the navigation. I was thinking of having the navigation screen modified so that it can accept outside video signals in. Therefore I would be able to watch video on my navigation, but in order to do this I would have to send my nav unit in to have it modified. This of course would void the warranty. I don't know if I want to void the warranty on something that cost about 2 grand. Anyways that is one option that I was thinking about doing.

Another way that I was thinking is to remove my (factory) 6-disc cd changer and installing my flip out screen there. I have done several of my own custom installations on my other vehicles so installing a flip out monitor there shouldn't be a problem for me. I have a PIONEER AVH-P6400CD flip-out screen that I would like to install. It has a cd player also. Is there anyone out there who sells some sort of adaptor so that I can have my (factory) navigation head unit control this Pioneer deck the same way that it controlled the (factory) 6-disc changer?

Has anyone ever installed a flip out monitor and kept the factory navigation system?

Has anyone ever removed there 6-disc changer and installed a monitor?

Any suggestions, info, & help is appreciated.

check out AVElectronic they may have a splitter that may allow what you want without having to do anything to your navigation unit except cut a wire or two.

Llajumpvid,

I have checked out AVElectronic. They are the ones that require me to send in my navigation head unit for modification. This of course voids the warranty, not to mention that it costs extra.

If I can't find some sort of adaptor to run my flip-out screen, then this is probably the way that I would have to go. I am still reluctant, though.

Have you ever used AVElectronic?

I would like to hear from someone who has, to see how good the picture quality is and if it is easy to use once installed.

If you got any other suggestions I am open to them.

thanks for the reply.

I have not used them but I'm thinking of getting one of their units once my Nissan Armada arrives.

I posted on another site and someone responded that they have one on their G35 and it works and looks great (except for the TV but I assume that is do to reception as they mentioned they did not install the antenna).

Sorry I can't be of more help, as I have just begun reseaching what I want to do as well.
