Okay, I got a Gamecube for Christmas and as I was looking at it, I noticed that the power supply provides 12VDC to the console. That led to the idea of putting it in the car. After all, that seems to be the thing with car customizers these days. The only difference is that I'm not looking for a permanent install. I want to be able to move it from the house to the car and back again. Now I checked the instructions on the Nintendo website and they said I would have to have a power inverter. I asked Nintendo and they said that the Gamecube was not designed to be installed in a vehicle. What I want to know is if there is a way to hook up the Gamecube without an inverter. Specifically, A cord that plugs into the console and the cigarette lighter using the vehicles 12 volts as the power supply. Now if I am nuts, just tell me, I can take it. Otherwise, thanks in advance for any help.

just get a $30-$50 power inverter and hook it up to the cigarette lighter. the reason they say its not recommended is probably bc if you run the Xbox for a long time without the car being started then you will run the battery down and it wont start
you are correct you can just run it from 12volts straight from the lighter socket, i have just sold a gamecube 5in screen that comes with a power lead for the lighter socket then splits to power the screen and gamecube. i would try nintendo's website for a lead.
