Hi all,

First time posting, so be gentle!  I am installing a Power Acoustik 10.4" LCD/DVD unit in my 2001 Chevy Suburban.  The install doesn't look all that complicated as I'm a 20 year Computer Hardware and Software professional.  My question is, how does my Rear AC Control/Light Unit come off?  I've pulled the Light cover off and don't see and noticeable screws.  Looks like there may be one of those snap locks that you press with a flat blade screwdriver to snap off, but not for sure.  Any ideas?  And thanks for the help in advance!!

LOL wow buddy. That's aa very hard thing man you may want to let a professional install that. But if your very brave. Just just a flat head or a door pin remover snap it down. LOL

Thanks eespro,

Although I can feel the sarcasm, if it was that simple I'd be installing these things for a living!  Actually after a little further investigation, it was only the light socket that unclipped, but it would only move up more into the console, not come out.  I just can't bring myself to spend $400 on an install, that probably would only take someone who knows what they're doing 2 or 3 hours.  If I can muddle through it in twice the time and save $400 buck, I will do just about anything.  Anyone else have any helpful suggestions or ideas where I might find the information.  Not sure if the Chilton's would list Overhead Console removal or not.  Hmmm....

The forward half of the overhead dome light/climate control console should snap down a few inches. You must then push the climate control from behind to push it rearward and out of the console. The console retaining screws should then be visible above the climate control opening. If you have this console, then I assume you do not have a sunroof. In order for you to position the video screen you will probably require a custom console made for this vehicle to position and mount your screen properly and securely. Otherwise you may have to mount the screen to far back.

Thanks Sparkie,

I'll take a look at performing those instructions.  The unit I bought comes with its own universal mounting bracket and console shroud, so I hope that I'll be good to go.  I'll post back with any sucess.

Thanks!
