I've just installed an Alpine CVA-1000 into a 2002 Olds Alero. The problem I'm having is that the subdash is too shallow to accomodate the longer unit. Is there anything I can do to get this unit flush with the dash?

If you are talking about the plastic at the back, you should be able to snap off what is stopping your unit from sitting flush. should really be that simple.

The back of those are not very easy to just snap off. If you have the proper tools to cut the plastic off, it will be a breeze. I use a mini air reciprocator to cut off the plastic, but if you do not have this, then use a hand saw to do the trick. Make sure that you only cut off what is necessary to push the deck into the back, otherwise if you cut off too much, it could jeopardize the structural integrity of the dash.
