Airbag Help Removal/Deactivating

I have a 1995 Dodge Intrepid. I would love to put a uniquie a/v system in it, utilizing the dash panel on the passenger side that would open in the event of airbag deployment. Ok, I KNOW how dangerous airbags are, and I am looking to de-activate and remove them if possible. Does anyone know of a DIY site or how-to on this, or should I leave it to the pros and have it done at a body shop. Also, is it illegal to have your airbags removed? A local shop will put a screen into my steering wheel, as long as the airbag has been removed prior, and the room inside the dash without these parts would be great for my "incognito" install plans. Any help would be appreciated. If I set off my deployment sensors(not while in the car) would this damage the cosmetic pieces. Desperation and lack of funds has driven me close, but I wanna know just what I am getting into first. Don't be scared.... I doubt I will do it without being %700 sure of safety, as always.

First off, disconnect the battery and any residual power left in the car by waiting a couple of minutes after you do this. Now go underneath the dash and follow the air bag wires from the steering column to the plug connector just under the dash area. unplugg this from the air bag. The air bag disconnects from the backside of the steering column so you will need to use an angle driver to get at the screws or take off the steering wheel.

*** Always work underneath the air bag or to the side of the airbag in case of accidental deployment ( hich is unlikely without power ) but better safe than sorry. ***

You will also have to get at the bulb in the back of the dash and remove this from the AIR BAG light otherwise it will be on all the time.

From what I have seen on these cars, the center is removed with the air bag ( you may have to cut off the plastic shroud cover and remove it  that way ). As far as the passenger air bag, the entire dash will have to come off in order for you to access the screws underneath the dash . GOOD LUCK
