Hi, I am new here to these boards and I have a question that the only answer i get is no, so I am hoping you people have a positve answer for me. I am looking for a motorized lcd screen that doesn't make dosen't flip up towards you, or has the option of doing this. I want it just move up and down linearly, and not make that final flip up. I want to make a setup where you hand the motorized unit in the top of a dash, with the faceplate facing the top of the windshield or the roof, straight up. Then when you turn it on, it would come straight up and the screen would be facing you. Every single person I have talked to says that they all come out, but then flip up, cause they are built to be put in the face of the dash, not mounted on top, facing up. Please if you know of a unit that will do this, please post. Thanks in advance

hey, i think there is a kenwood model that does that. i'm not sure if i remember correctly but all it does is pop outwards and you have to manually flip it upwards, so this might work in your application. All i remember is that it was touch screen too! i hope this helps a little. I'm sure there are a few different brands that do this...

I have a kenwood model that does this. It comes straight out and then you have to manually flip the monitor up to view it. I guess if you mounted it vertically it would do what you want. One problem though, (I need to check) I beleive that the screen does not turn on until you manually flip it up. When I go to my car I will check and let you know. I will also get the model number. It was the first model that kenwood made, I got it in 2000. It is a badass unit though, comes w/ tv tuner, built in crossover & controls for an kenwood amp. 5.6" Touch screen. Has a built in cd player not a dvd player. Built in dvd players were not available when I bought this unit. I know kenwood makes one w/ dvd player now, and I think it works like mine. Hope this helps

Eclipse has a model that does that too, but like 2004 said i dont think the screen comes on until you flip it up. you could always make one though. just get the lcd screen you want and maybe a 4" linear actuator. shouldnt be too hard depending on whats in the dash where you want it mounted.

There's a lcd that Accelle makes that you can mold into the top of your dash and it flips up and faces you

That Accelle one seems pretty coo ( I can't really find any online stores selling it) l, I really would like one like I described. Doing the linear actuator plan was going to be my last resort. Any other suggestions?

seeing how thats not a common way of mounting a screen there are probably few if any companys that offer what you want. it seems like it would be hard to use the buttons or remote with it mounted like that. you will probably have to do it all custom if you want exactly what you described and have it easy to use. i was thinking of doing something similar in the center console of an explorer for the rear passengers to see. never got around to it though.

there the only one i've ever seen with that type of moniter, but if done right its a cool look for the moniter, threr's a button on top that you prees to make it flip up and turn on. i've done it with a ceiling mount moniter with a reverse screen option on it, but the only thing is that you need to get one with good sring action, if not it won't always flip up.

I gotta point out that if you put the kenwood or eclipse model in I would doubt that the onboard DVD /CD players would play verticly. You would probally have to use a changer. By the way I used to sell the Acellevision stuff and I have to tell you, Its sh*t. I had a lot of problems with it but to be fair it was almost always the DVD players and not the screens themselves. I think I still have a couple dozen of the screens on the road and have had no problems in quite a while. I would definatly suggest finding a local dealer and not a internet dealer for that screen though

Thanks, I can't seem to find anywhere that really sells that screen online, thats just the Manufacturer's website. But I'm still looking for one that goes straight up and down. But if you guys know of websites that sell the above one please post.
Thanks
