I purchased a new 2004 expedition woth factory DVD flip down screen and would like to know if I can add rear monitors in the headrests. My local shop said it was impossible without changing the dvd player to after market. I do nnot want to do that due to the integration with the head unit. Is there any way to add monitors to this system?

the factory screen/dvd combo will have to be disassembled.  locate the harness connecting the dvd player to the screen.  in this harness there will be a single wire with another wire (shield) wrapped around it - just like an rca.  cut the end off an aftermarket rca and solder onto the factory wires.  i'd suggest running this rca into a video amplifier so as not to lose any picture quality.  if you live in Michigan, just bring it to my shop ;)
