:errr:
I have just installed two new Sony XVMH65 headrest monitors in my 2002 ford excursion. The Sony manual wiring diagram calls for:
- 2 black(grounds)t to a metal surface of the car chassis
- Yellow (Back-up 5m) wire (8 A fuse) to car battery (12V)
- Red wire (1 A fuse) to ACC (5m) or to ignition switch ACC position
- Blue and white stripped wire to a power amplifier.
I have hooked them to a car wire:
- two black wires to a black wire from the car
- yellow to a light green violet stripped wire
- Red to a pink wire from the car.
I called Sony and told them I do not have a amplifier hooked up to the system and they informed me I could just not use the blue and white stripped wire. I have checked to insure that the harness going into a control box is actually getting power its getting about 11.48 volts. But when I try and power up the headrest monitors they will not come on. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I can test. I have checked all the fusses and they look fine. I could use some help here. Also when I hook up my new blaupunkt dvd-me2 player using the same wires from the car the DVD player fires up no problem. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated

Don't tie your grounds into any wire, put a ring terminal on them and mount the to the chassis of the vehicle, this could be the whole problem, there are other black wires in vehicles that are not ground. Also when you power the monitors up is there a reset button that you can hit to see if it will do anything.

Always check info with a digital multimeter.
I promise to be good.
Tell Darwin I sent you.
I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.
BOOM. Got them to power up. I went straight to the Fuse box for my wiring and they came up fine. Now all I have to deal with is the cross talk from the IR's from the headrest units. But man they look sweet. Thanks to all who posted
