hey whats up, im really an amature at this whole mobile video shizzle, but i have a question thats been driving me insane. Whenever i see pictures of in dash lcd screen/dvd player combos (where the tv folds out), it has a display at all times, even when playing audio/mp3 cd's, showing the track thats playing / volume / ect.. what i want to do is buy just the lcd tv, mold it into my dash, and than buy a seperate dvd/cd/mp3 reciever to put underneath it. My question is, can i get that reciever to show a display on the lcd screen just like the display like that of the combo ones? If so, which dvd recievers have this,,, or even is there a way to tell if they do or not,,,, or is this not possible at all.... any help greatly appreciated, and sorry if this is a retarted question, just had to ask somewhere :oops:

I know the XBox has this option but as far as other companies , not sure.

hmm yea, the playstation also shows a display on the monitor while playing cd's,, but i dont want to use my playstation to play all my cd's all teh time, 1) its inconvienient, 2) laser would b shot in a week.... im thinkin more along the lines of a DIN-sized dvd reciever.. any other suggestions? thanks - akn

hmmmmmmm, ok,,,, what i really want is while im listening to cd's i want something on the screen, preferably showing the track title and stuff and some sort of animation or something,,, but even just anything displayed on the screen is fine,,, is there a module that will play something like the winamp visualizations? or anything? anyone know what im saying? c'mon i cant b the only person looking for something like this posted_image

The pioneer 5000 shows a display while playing discs, so does the new jvc cd/dvd player

does "on-scren display" mean that it has a display on the faceplate or a display on the monitor?

omg seriously, theres no way im the only one lookin for a dvd player with a display while im playing cd's... please someone help im dying to buy one but i dont know which ones have this feature and which ones dont....

i don't think so man. The only ones that you are gonna find are if you do it through a PC/Xbox/PS2 or jsut get a HU witht the fold up screen.

yea thats what i thought, just wishful thinking i guess. i just dont understand why the fold out ones have it and the regular dvd players dont,,, isnt a fold out lcd/dvd combo the same thing as 2 seperate ones,,, just compacted into a din-sized unit?

you know what would b awesome, if one of these companies made a module that went into the video input and made like a winamp-visualization style thing.... but no. that would b too cool.

im still in disbelief that noone pays attention to whats on theyre screens while theyre just cruzin around listenin to music... what a waste is a black screen. posted_image
