I have an AVIC 800 nav unit linked to a AVH 6500 screen.  I've recently had amp put in my car and now the NAV unit isn't powering up.  I had the wiring checked and it was fine so i returned the unit, which worked fine when tested.

So, I guess the wiring must be at fault, rather than tust the garage i took the time and checked it out myself.  The 12V battery connection, earth and ignition are all fine on my multimeter (although the ignition wire is only reading a little over 5V, there is a resistor on the wire though so i assume that's correct) so why isn't it powering up?

I'm wondering if the comms cable to the head unit has failed, would the AVIC 800 power up on the ignitition signal or does it need a signal from the head unit too?  What does the unit need to turn on?

If anyone could help me i'd be most grateful.

nik

Best I can say is your questions could maybe be directed to pioneer tech support. Here is a link to their page.

I had a brand new AVIC-80 that was dead right out of the box. It would power up, accept the DVD disk, but it would only spin it up and do nothing else. Good luck with yours.
