Hello

I'm new to this whole 12volt installation stuff so I need some help from the gurus. I got a used CVA-1005, DVA-5200, and CHA-S624 with all the wiring that the previous owner had. At first I thought I could hook up the CHA and DVA to the brain unit but the brain only has 1 Ai-Net port. Also and this is very newbiefied, but where does the units get power? I mean you have a power wire right? Do you run it to the battery or what?

Did you not get the wiring diagram for the DVA or CVA units ? There are diagrams on there with detailed wiring instructions for each wire as well as the chematics for hooking up exactly what you have.

There should be 2 ai net cables on the dva.  one goes to the cva and the other to the cha.   the cha gets power through the ai net cable if i remeber right.  all of the diagrams are on alpines site if you need them.

Thanks Tim. I got everything wired up except the DVA. I dont know what wires go to which brake wires. Do I have to physically splice a brake wire on my car or just run the wire from the brain to the brake fuse?

the brake wire should be hooked up at the switch on the brake pedal.  You need the one that shows +12v when the pedal is pressed.

How do I determine that?

With a multi-meter or test light.  I prefer using a meter.  How many and what color are the wires coming from your brake switch?  Are you going to hook the cva up to the park brake also or bypass it so you can see video when the car is in motion?

I want to bypass it.

You can just use two toggle switches to bypass it.  One for the brake wire and one for the park brake wire.  Use the switches instead of actually hooking to the brakes.

And ground both toggle switches?

The foot brake would go to +12v, the park brake would go to ground.
