Power wire problem with LCD monitor

My power wire is connected to my battery using a 10-gauge wire and I have the black wire grounded to my vehicle. My power wire is heating up and starting to smoke. I know this is not supposed to happen. What is the problem? Please help . Thanks.

Are you sure you are connecting it to the right wire on the LCD.?

Make sure that you have not pinched the connection or scrapped off the insulation while passing it through the firwall. If there is any portion of the power wire that is exposed and touhing metal your wire will melt within seconds and cause some major damage to the car.

I connected to the right wire, but I'm pretty sure an exposed part of the wire touched metal and caused the wire to melt. Now that I have corrected that problem, could that mishap have ruined my car battery or something else? I ask that because I'm not getting any power to my vehicle except for the interior lights. Thanks again.

Check your fuse. Might have blown a whole bunch of them.

yea blown fuses dont connect a lcd monitor straight to battery bad choice to much power output from battery. just run it off of something that turnes on and off with car. best bet the other way , look you already had problems.. trust me no reason to go through fire wall for ten lcd monitors . do it right or take it to a shop . light bulb.

but hay its your car blow it up if you want

Make sure you connect an inline fuse to protect you monitor, usually won't need more than 0.5 Ma, but runnning the lcd off the fuse box is the safest route
