Installing the AVIC-N1 in a 04 Ford F150. I am looking for the VSS wire and reverse lead coming out of the instrument cluster. I am kind of military stationed in Okinawa, Japan and it is for the most part useless trying to find it out at a dealer over hereposted_image Want to have this done before hitting the states in two monthes. If anyone knows where I can get a wire schematic I would really appreciate it too.

Here's the diagram for your truck,  I have another for the VSS.  I will send it shortly.

That is great! I really appreciate it.  I tapped into one wire and it set off the fuel pump switch so I reset it and now I have an engine light on.  I am sure I just have to have it cleared with a dealership computer.

Most of your local part stores will reset it for you for a fraction of the cost.

Try disconnecting your battery over night...   This might reset your computer.

Usually it doesn't take more then 15 minutes. Just make sure you disconnect the ground and when you disconnect that you don't arc the ground when reconnecting it.

Gray & black wire on the radio harness is the speed sense wire.

AS mentioned gray/black @ the factory radio harness is your VSS signal and BLACK/ pink (+) is your reverse signal look in the drivers door sill for it. If not there go to the passenger door sill it has to be running up one side, but I'm pretty sure it's on the drivers side. Good luck,

Mike

2004 is obdII,it will not reset with the batt..it takes 40 drive cycles to clear the light, this does not mean start-drive-stop..I have heard of daily drivers taking 2 months to reset a soft fault..there are many parameters to a drive cycle, speed, engine temp, etc. it will only take a second, but any shop with an 'N(ew) G(eneration) S(tar)'(ford oem scan tool;well they have a newer one too..like a snap-on modis, tablet pc based),or many obdII scan tools which a parts store may have as well..it might be a good idea to get a cheapy, because all you have to do to trip the light is leave your gas cap off!(THE most often seen code at any shop)you get a major evap leak code..anyway you get the idea,i think i've seen some for around 200 bucks..

Hey, thanks everyone the install went smooth.  The BLACK/ pink is in a twisted pair over on the passenger side.  As for the light disconecting the battery actually worked.  Is the vehicle dynamics option supposed to automatically become available or do you have to wait until it is done calibrating?  It is not counting the miles either, but the manual says you have to drive it for awhile.  Just wondering seeing as I can't drive it overhere and have to sneek out at night a mile at a time to ditch the cops.  The pulse sensor works so the VSS is installed correctly.  No GPS signal but that is because I am overhere.
