I have a 1995 GMC Safari. It has a tv inside and I took my kid's playstation out to it and hooked it up using a 12v to 110 converter I purchased at a local auto parts store. Everything worked fine but the next day when I went to start my vehicle I noticed that the TV and my interior mood lights are no longer working. Can anyone help me?

Check your fuzes, if you left the power inverter hooked up, it may have caused a power surge

Thank you for your response raydawg357. I checked the fuses but I have no idea which one it is. I have a fuse for everything but which one usually indicates the interior mood lights and tv? The TV is a 12volt Tv which connects to a cigarette light type of plug. The regular cigarette lighter works fine but not these two others and not the lights. I know you're probably thinking, this guy knows NOTHING about cars....well, you're right :)

Check all the fuses, under the dash and under the hood. You probably blew the fuse to the cig lighter specifically.

No, the cig lighter is working fine. I plug my cell phone into it.

Check the fuses for the cig lighter and the dome/mood lights. Most power invertors also have a fuse on them, at least every one that I have saw does. Check that fuse as well. Your TV, being as it connects through the cig lighter/accessory port may also have a fuse. Check all of those fuses, and see if any/all of them are blown.

Here's a stupid one that is overlooked by many people because it is not common knowledge to the normal consumer. In the plug that goes into the cigarette lighter, take off the end where the little metal button is. It's a screw off cap and in there you will find a glass fuse. Check to make sure that this fuse is not blown. This is the (+) side of the lighter plug while the metal tab on the side is the ground.

I truly appreciate all of the responses. The cig lighter is in the dash area as indicated by the picture. It has a cell charger connected to it. Now the other two cig connections are above my head in a cabinet. They are not connected to the main cig lighter at all from what I can tell. The pic to the right is above my head. https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/uploads/ciglighter.jpg https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/uploads/abovehead.jpg -------------
