Need a bit of advise... I have a 05 Ford Econoline work van that came in to have a navigation installed. On the 2005 there is NO VSS wire as it uses a fiber wire........ I double checked with Rostra.

I was told that Pioneer has a nav system that does NOT require a VSS input?

Is that true? Anyone have a model # or any advise?

Customer wants indash unit w/ flip screen.

I have heard that youn can run a navi system without the VSS wire attached but the position on the map is not as acurate. Thats all I know about it.

I tried installing a Audiovox Nav 5000 & the screen does not move without the VSS hooked up. I installed the Audiovox in a 2004 Ford Ranger with  vss hooked up & it works fine.

According to the Pioneer manual for the AVIC-N1, you CAN run it without the VSS, but the position update is not as accurate.  You can buy a spearate speed sensor in instances where the VSS is not accessible or in your case, not useable.  Check www.avic-n1.com and look at accessories.
