Need help adding LCD monitor

I have a floor mounted console with a TV and DVD player. I'm trying to add on a 7 inch Legacy monitor . The TV faces the 2nd row seats so I want to mount a monitor in the front seat area. The Legacy monitor has a red and black wire, and three female RCA plugs, which are red, yellow and blue. I tried to use the cigarette lighter as a power source, which didn't work. Also I ran RCA cables from the front of the DVD player to the new monitor but all that did was caused the picture in the floor monitor to scramble, the new monitor does nothing. Also what is the blue female RCA plug for? How can I configure this setup in order to view the same signal on both screens? I'm working in a 99 Ford Winstar...Thanks in advance.

you might have the wires connected backards thats y its notworking
as forthe video the front jacts on the dvd player are inputs not outputs. u have to either get a video amp to splitthe signal goingto the other monitor or u can try to Y it but thats not always good cause the signal degrades

What do you mean it is not working? Does it power up, and no video is outputed? Or does the power not even work?

You may need to check the output voltage of the lighter, many newer cars only use output 5VDC, and you may just need more voltage.

Also, you know the monitor works, right? I know a lot of Legacy products get sold on ebay, and the quality is sacrificed. Though I did buy 2 Legacy monitors for fun a few months ago, and they work great.

Unit does not power up. I assume the monitor works. I'll try a different power source. How much do video amps go for? Thanks everyone for the help.

You can get a decent one for around $30US. You can also buy 75-Ohm video cable to help, too.

How did the power source turn out? I use a PC PS for in shop testing of monitors, and it has worked great for the past few years.
