I know this is not an automotive question but just thought I would see if I could get some help. My home dvd skips only when I use rentals. If I use store bought it works just fine. At first I thought maybe the laser was dirty. After cleaning it , it does the same thing. Now as I stated above it only does it with rentals. Usually happens sometime between the middle of movie towards 3/4 of the way through. Is there anything anyone can recommend?

Ever think it might be the dvds and not the player?

Yes I have but it does it on every rental. It doesn't matter if it is a new release or not. If I use my other dvd it plays the dvd's just fine.

Maybe the gremlin doesn't like the movies you rent at blockbuster and is throwing a fit.

Who knows what is going on, could just be one of those things you will never find out.

I just hate the fact of going purchase another one. But it will be cheaper then putting it in the shop for repairs. It is a magnavox surround sound system. I didn't pay but $200 for it about 3 or 4 years ago. I guess its like they say you get what you pay for.
