What to run it incar with out a 240v invertor just off 12v Anyone done this yet? What exact parts are needed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need a regulated supply. 8.4V is uncommon, and a standard voltage regulator don't come in 8.4V. You can try 9.0V regulator, but it may run hot. You can also get an adjustable 9.0V regulator, and use a voltage divider to knock it down a bit. Make sure you have adequate current capacity, too.
