Having problems finding a way to secure and overhead video monitor in a 2004 Ford Expedition. It has the rear heat controls and sunglass holder in the front and a great flat area right behind to mount the monitor but there are no roof braces or supports to secure the monitor to. I am a bit leary about useing just the liner to hold up the screen. It also has several air vents in the roof for HVAC so running supports from from to back between roof brace is about impossible. So if anyone has done one of these yet any help would be wonderful.

Which flip-down? I usually cut the headliner, wedge in a piece of ABS (12" x 12") then secure flip-down to ABS. As long as the unit doesn't weigh more than 6 or 7 pounds, you won't have a problem.

It is a delpji 7" with dvd . It comes with a steel plate for mounting that could be layed above the headliner and screwed to but was worried about it bouncing too much if I just used the liner for support without any solid mounting.

i have used half inch wood in these before with the heavier units. when u cut the headliner u should notice that since it has the heat ducts in the cealing that the headliner is reinforced due to all of the ducting.

I just recently installed an overhead in my Limited Windstar. It sounds like you had the same roof configuration as I did. I ended up taking 2 1/2 in slats of plywood and slid them through the roof air vents. I secured each piece in the center through the headliner and then screwed the flip down to it. This did the trick. It doesn't bounce and seems to be very secure.
Your'e going to need the factory bracket that mounts between the headliner and the roof. It's made specifically for the dvd set up. I don't recall the Ford part #, but it is available at the dealer.
