i recently installed a video system in a '05 gmc crew-cab.  the unit went in over the spot where the factory domelight had resided.  when attempting to hookup the video  unit's light to the door trigger i get a lot of wierd radiated noises in correlation to the dimmer/delay circuit in the gm.  has anyone ever run into this? ive tried all sorts of noise filters, but still cant get rid of it.

also, i did have to use a relay to swap the polarity of the door trigger

Try placing a diode (say a 4001) across the relay to stop back EMF causing the chatter from the dimmer/delay module.
the diode needs to go across the coil on the relay.
or maybe you could mod the video system's domelight circuit to suit the same as the O.M.E.

hope that helps.
