I am wanting to get a 10-15 inch flip down lcd for my 89 Hardtop Firebird. I am just wanting to confirm that I need to take the headliner down to mount it to the headliner. I figured I would half to but was just wanting to know from others before I start this poject.

You would not need to completely drop the head liner out....Just drop one side say the Passenger side so that you have good access to the area where you are going to mount the monitor....

When you go to mount that big of a screen try to screw into one of the cross braces that support the roof....BUT DONT USE LONG SCREWS...Nothing looks worse than a screw tip through the top of a vehicle....

REASON BEING....That screen is pretty heavy and unless the headliner in there is really heavily made it may droop from the weight after a while....

If there isnt a cross brace where you want to mount it...get some LUAN and cut a piece to fit ABOVE the headliner that is wide enough to spread the weight of the screen out...

Good luck

you could also mount some wood to that beam and then mount the unit to the wood. you really dont need to take down any headliner but it would help, just take more time though.
