I am doing an install on an 05 Tahoe....The Customer wants to bring the video source from the Factory DVD player in the rear of the vehicle up front to the Navigation Unit...

I have found the right adapter to get the video up to the nav monitor (PAC-=-VCI-GM2)

My questions are as follows....

1. Has anyone ever done this to any car unit and if so how did the picture look on the Nav Unit...If the picture looks like crap I am gonna suggest a secondary in-dash monitor.

2. I need the pin out for the factory DVD player in the rear....(Panasonic Model# 15200217) The DVD player is Hardwired to the Monitor in the rear so I need to know how I am gonna get a video signal out of the wiring and into an RCA signal or if it can be done at all....

If it cant be done its not a total loss..I have a 1/2 Din DVD player commin from Salient Designs to be a secondary source for the front....

I am searching for this but if you have any suggestion or know how to do this please post...

hi,

i think i have the info you are looking for.  at the dvd player, there are three plugs...one for power and audio, one for the aux input jacks and parental control button, and the third which goes to the monitor.  in this plug is the lead you need.  if i remember correctly it is the fourth pin over top row (dark blue?).  i removed the top of the unit and soldered the center lead of a rca cord to it.  also connected the shield of the rca to the case of the unit.  couldn't hurt to check, just use an extra monitor you have around.  hope this helps, pm me back as i have more info (pinouts, wiring colors) at work.

and the picture was fine on the extra monitor...add another and you might consider a video amplifier,

Thank you so much....I will talk to the guy tommorow and try this out....I have been trying to get a wiring schmatic for that unit for 4 days now....I was fixing to just start tapping wires and find out what happens....

If you have any other thoughts just write back....

Thanks again
