Infrared Camera

I have a question...I have a friend that has an all metal/aluminum Horse trailer, he wants to install an infrared camera inside the trailer, now my question is...because the trailer is aluminum/metal will this interfere in any way with the infrared signal that the camera is sending to the main unit inside the truck?

Is it infrared like night vision or infrared like a TV remote? If it is the latter then no infrared is light so it aluminum will have no effect. But I would think about a wired camera vs an infrared transmition because I would think that the camera would have to be aimed at the reciver inside the truck at all times. That wouldn't work out to good on the road. Its also possible that an RF wireless camera would work. It definatly would if you could keep it from being completly inside the trailor but it would probly still work inside the trailor. Just don't get one of those $5 ones from ebay they suck.

wait, i just read that and I meant that if it is like a TV remote you can use it completly enclosed in the trailor.

I believe the camera works with RF signal, so I guess it would be okay? On the description of the camera it says that the signal is capable of going through walls, but I was just wondering if aluminum would have an effect on the signal.

Maybe, but with the short distance from truck to trailor I wouldn't think that it would have that much of an effect.
