Has anyone installed video headrest screens into a 2002 Explorer? I am asking since this year has the one-piece seats with no headrest. I am on the fence between cutting the seats or installing an overhead monitor. I would prefer the monitors in the seat but am leary of cutting into the seat. I have a factory sunroof and adds a bit of a chalange to the overhead install.

I have. I build a wood frame that will sandwich the seat between the frame and monitor. It is real easy if you have tools, I can turn the frame out in 15 minutes with a router.

i did the same on my old 96, pretty much the same seat. I used 3/4 inch MDF made a frame that fit around my tv bracket, routed it smooth on all corners and sunk the wood down so that the bracket fit flush. Make the incision into the seat. Then screwed the homeade bracket into the seat back with self tappers. Lastly tucked the fabric, and set the screen, of course after connecting the wire ran up to the monitor.
