Damn, my first comment got deleted. First, cd-rw isn't the best disc to be using so stay away from rewriteable. Second, what format do you want to play, mp3, VCD, or burned audio cd? I don't think that VCD will play at all.

any format possible, all I just need is to make it play any burned CD. it doesn't play mp3, vcd, and burned cd audio, all it says is "disc error." I don't know what else to do. if there is another format that I hadn't use and you thing it may work please tell me.

when burning u cd make sure you finalize the disk..  ive used cdr, cdrw, dvd-r, dvd+r..& had the same problem.. i figured out that u had to finilize each disk inoreder for them to work on alpine, pioneer, units..

I didn't think that the unit recognized DVD-R media?
