Hello all,

no this is not about by-passing anything ;)

I am installing an AVIC-D1 in a Porsche 928 and the center console's angle is 38 degrees.

How critical is the 30 degrees parameter. The unit will be dead strait with the car but tilted 38 degrees.

Does anyone have experience with something similar or know of how much it will affect performance.

Thanks in advance

Paul

you should be fine, you do know the D1 doesn't play DVD's right?

Thanks for the response.

I was beginning to think that I had stomped everyone posted_image

Watching DVDs in the car as never appealed to me. I would rather have a nice looking install and upgraded maps. The only thing that I will miss is the possibility to change destination or update the route on the go. But since the car as the real possibility to get you in trouble (170 mph top speed), I would rather keep my eyes on the road anyway posted_image

A Pioneer tech emailed me with the opinion that the 38 degree angle would cause the laser failing at times to read the information on the disc.  I was more under the impression that the positioning would be off.

I might just give it a try and see.

Paul
