There is a white wire with a "protection diode" that is hooked up to the VSS wire and from there it is attached to the wiring harness of the navi unit. Unfortunately I lost that "protection diode" wire. Needless to say I'm wondering is there any other way to hook it up without me buying a new harness? It's about $60 for the whole thing, even though I would only need that separate wire. :(
Is the protection diode just a fuse?

Any help would be appreciated.

just use a 1N4001 diode on the lead, non-banded end towards the navigation unit.

Thanks for the reply. Can anyone else confirm this?
