installing headrest monitors,, i want to use the factory dvd player for signal. does anyone know which pins and wires i need to tap into for video and audio??
Not 100% Sure this will work and if I am wrong someone plz respond...
First Take the Dvd player apart so that you can see the pins on the inside where the plug goes out to the factory monitors....
Get a RCA (cheap one) cut one end off of it...Strip back the outer insulation exposing the wire...Seperate the Ground jacket of mesh wire from the center pin wire in the RCA...Strip the center pin wire....
Attach the Mesh wire jacket to the case of the DVD player attach a piece of scrap wire to this jacket with a butt connector that way you have some slack to work with... (Just use one of the screws that holds the DVD player together)
Get a TV (doesnt matter from where all it needs is an RCA input if you already have your monitors powered in your car you are set if not one from your home will suffice)
You will need to plug the DVD player in to power it so you can get signal out...
Start a DVD playing...Then take the center pin wire of your RCA and touch it to the connection pins going to the circuit board inside the DVD player (the ones that go out to the factory monitor)....
Watch your TV for signal until you find the correct pin....Then all you have to do is make all your connections permanent with solder run your RCA out of the unit and reasemble and you are done....
On a side note when you get the DVD player out look at the model num if it is a Panasonic Model# 15200217 All you have to do is strip the rca then the pin you have to solder the Center wire of the RCA to is the Dark Blue wire that goes out to the monitor (should be like the 4th wire over on the top of the connector that goes to the monitor) and then ground the wire mesh to the case and you are in business I did this already in a friends Tahoe (dont know if ford and chevy are using same DvD players....
This is a very crude explanation and I am assuming that you half way know what you are doing to begin with....If you have no idea then I would recomend taking it to a pro..
Again if someone sees a fault in my post plz correct me...
