Can anyone explain why one installer wants to hook up my headrest monitor system thru my onstar with an interface and another says that's not the way to do it? Guy number two says that he would not interface with or touch the onstar controller.

Thanks

They both made their cases very plain. I am not an installer and I cannot really compare the methods. I need someone with a larger knowledge of all this to give me advice.

If you are just installing headrest monitors with a stand alone DVD player, there's no reason to go near the onstar. The only thing that would interface with the factory radio would be an FM modulator (so you can hear the dvd over the cars speakers via an fm station) or for an aux input (so you can hear the dvd over the speakers via the aux channel on your radio). If you are not replacing the factory radio, then there should be no reason to involve onstar unless the aux input adapter interfaces with it. If you ARE replacing the factory radio, you would need the appropriate interface for the bose/onstar/etc. Also if you don't use or don't want onstar, you don't need to buy the more expensive interface to retain it.

Guy #2 is a moron. The aux input adapter doesn't interfere/affect/integrate/etc... with onstar at all. An aux input adapter would be the best choice.

Oh, you can tell guy #2 that I called him a moron.
