Hey guys,

I installed a flip down monitor, DVD player, and FM Modulator. I taped into the CD Player wire harness to get my ACC and Ground wires. When I play a movie, I hear a lot of static with the movie audio being in the background.

I have read other posts, and you guys mentioned to get power from the ignition harness. So, is it wrong to take the power from the back of the stereo? What do I need to do to get rid of the static noise?

I tried to hook up the DVD to the ignition harness with a clean ground surface, but still had the same problem.

Your answers & tips will be appreciated. Thanks all.

you need to get a power filter and also not bolt the dvd direct to the chasis use either a braided strap or wood the to the chasis

Alot of times you cant get rid of that hiss at all. that is what happens when you run your sound through an fm mod. the best way to go is to run it through a stereo that has an aux input. if you absolutley want to run through the fm mod, some of them have an output level control, lower that down and that will clean out more that half of the hiss. also almost all fm modulators have different fm frequenceys to set it to, try changing it to another channel.

Thanks guys for your input. .... Securinu, I tried to hook a noise filter (the one thats RCA only) and still made no difference. Also I had not yet mounted the DVD since it sounded like Yuck!

Meitech916, I tried as well what you mentioned about lowering the level, it helped very little, but still could hear the hiss very obviously. Also tried changing the fm modulator to another channel, no luck!

Do you guys think that the static noise is due to taking the power from the back of the stereo rather than the ignition switch?

Any other ideas should help. Thanks in advance.

I got it to work. It was just a bad DVD. I replaced the DVD with another brand DVD, and the noise was totally gone.
