I have it, and installed it.  It's awful.  I am quite dissappointed.  Stick with the 5435.  Far better value.  They really did a crappy job on it.

What's so awful about it, i am looking at buying one and assumed it was going to be similar to the 5435, but with a the mp3 capapbility.

No sattelite, the memory stick is worthless, it uses some extinct sony variation.  No one at Eclipse can even tell you how to get music on the memory stick so you can play it in the radio.  The hard drive rips music off a disc in "real time".  So if you want 10 songs off one disc, the machine takes as long as if you were actually listening to all ten.

I called Eclipse to address some problems, they took my name and number.  I asked if I would get a call back for some help.  The lady told me they would call back to tell me nothing more than "we are thinking of you".  WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN?!?!?!

BTW.  The 5435 does MP3.

I once got in touch with Eclipse's AVN call center and they told me that the max MS size that my AVX2404 could read is 128MB..
I bought a Sony MS 128MB but have never been able to use this feature.

i have it and love it. i do not know how the person above got it that soon as i ordered it direct from fijitsu-ten right after ces but i do know there were some out and about. mine works great, looks great and was worth the wait. the 5435 is a excellent unit but the 5495 steps it up.

I think 1hot91 is pissed because he spent to much money on a unit that really isnt better than its predecessor. Ripping music off the radio sounds like crap anyway, and who would want to record in "real time" anyway?

Like Howard Stern says, "Sirius is the way to go" Can't get that with AVN5495!!!!

lol.. yes that's exactly what i said..

stop thinking so much and just read. i said i love my 5495 and it wasn't that much more then the 5435 so it was a deal. as for sirus you can have it, while the radios may appear similar they are completely different. i would have liked a remote included with my 5495, that's the extent of complaints with what it offers though. both radios are nice, the 5495 is just nicer.

right now i have the AVN5495 replacing my AVX2404 and I am very disappointed with the sound quality.. the AVX2404 could play 5.1/DTS.. if you're into quality sound the AVN5495 is not it. I don't know what the AVN5435 sounds like but the specs looks the same. I'm only using the AVN5495 to test my video monitors. My installer is trying to make me upgrade (more like downgrade) my system to the either the 5435 or 5495 because the 2404 is giving me so much trouble.
I'm not getting too much help from Eclipse Fujitsu-Ten either so I might just yank their products out and go with another brand.

Has anyone figured out how to use the memory stick yet??  I bought like 4 different ones, made all my music ATRAC3's and still couldn't get it to work.

is it throwing an error code? i'm only using it for the security portion and it works just fine. i'm using a standard 128 sony version though. what type are you trying to use?

finally watched a complete movie the other day, sound is excellent although i will back the 5.1 missing i suppose is a negative if you are trying to compare to a home theater though there is no point. my only complaint is that the dvd volume seems to be almost cut in half during movie play back so i had to make a preset audio adjustment on my amps in order to make sure the gains stayed level. beyond that it's working great.
