I tried to install an aftermarket stereo on a 2004 Tahoe LS using the correct wiring harness and came to find out that GM no longer provides one of the power lines to the stereo, I think it's the constant HOT, but I'm not sure. Anyhow I almost gave in and quit, meaning I almost took it to an installer, but I thought hey I can figure this out. I don't want to run a hot wire from the battery through the firewall (drill through it). Is there a way to get the constant hot (power) somewhere in the cabin of the Tahoe? I was thinking of cutting one of the cigarette lighters and using that???

Actually the constant is still there, you need to wire the switched. Grab the orange wire in the ign harness or search the site for "Retained accessory power" or "RAP" if you want the radio to stay on till the doors open.

If you want your onstar to still work you cant do that you need the pac adapter i think its the OS2 anyway if you want another way for the ign at the harness you need pin b12 and b14 use 12 to 30 on relay 85 to ground 86 to to pin 14 and 87 to ign on aftermarket radio

I don't have OnStar.
nyvr6, Do these (PIN) wiring re-directing techniques still work if I don't have the OnStar feature? All, I was thinking of adding a fuse lead to the fuse box and running that as the ACC power to the stereo. Any thoughts?
