I have an old avic80 connected to a 7500. I want to get the new disc and understand that it limits my ability to change the address or do a real vicinity search while in motion (which is now detected via the vss wire). I really dont want to lose the capability to check what restaurants are commin on on exits during road trips or change the address while i'm driving.
Besides just puttin the VSS on a switch, is there any way to prevent this thing from limiting my nav capabilites?

The new lockout does not affect stand-alone units like yours.  Only all-in-one pieces like the N1, N2, and D1.  Just get new disks and put it in your nav, no worries
