I picked up a digital wheelz xenarc 700v screen and an Innovatek FD-7. I have the screen and DVD player both tapped to the cig. lighter on the passenger side. I used the radio shack wire taps to wire them. The mobile DVD player has many options for wiring. It comes w/ a cig lighter adapter to use, it also comes w/ a hard wiring kit and a regular in home adapter. The option I chose was the hard wire kit, obviously. The hard wire kit includes 4 wires...

1. red - Backup 12V
2. black - ground
3. yellow ACC 12V (assume its for the 'accessory' position when the key isnt turned completely)
4. blue - remote 12V

the yellow and blue wire run together, and the black and red run together with a large fuse inline on the red wire. I can again turn the dvd player on using the power button or remote, but again after 10-15 sec, it majically shuts off. The dvd player fits very snugly in to the upper glove cubby, i even removed it and tried but still the same thing.

Here's my problem: When the car starts, I turn on the dvd player. The DVD player loads the menu and plays the movie etc and works fine. After about 10-15 sec the power simply shuts off, no warning or anything. Shortly thereafter, the Xenarc screen senses no input and shuts off a few secs after that.

I tapped the cigarette lighter with the RED / black wire. I left the yellow wire untouched (as I will never be watching dvd's with the car off or in accessory) and the blue I ran a remote wire from my PAC audio unit. I thought maybe the yellow wire needs to be used as the red said (backup 12V), so i removed the red wire and instead used the yellow (ACC 12V). This time no power NOTHING, DVD player wouldnt even turn on. So i thought maybe I need to use a different cig. lighter and I moved the red BACKUP 12V over to the driver side. I then tapped that cig. lighter wire and the SAME problem, dvd player turns on for 10-15 sec then just shuts off. PLEEEASE HELP!! I have also read that I should NOT use the cig. lighter as a ground and tried a generic grounding point, but the screen would still shut off aft er 10-15 sec. I have searched online and asked many people, but STILL cannot figure this out. My only other options are:

1. try another video input device (from the house, which I know WONT shut off)
2. Try and use the cig lighter it came w/ as well and cut off cig. lighter head and wire using that, inserting an inline fuse on the RED / 12v wire.

I would PREFER to use existing wiring as its easier, but please gimme your input on what the problem could be!!

wire it like it is a radio. boyh the red and yellow wire have to be used. try running it from the radio's power supply. if that dosen't fix it run a seprate power and back up supply.
