Okay here is the situation I am going to  run an alpine iva-d300 in my escalade where the 6 disc changer was.  I also will retain my nav head unit and run the audio through it.  I have 2 farenheit 7" monitors in the headrests and will run the video through a splitter.  Now I know these monitors only have a power, ground and an rca input for video they utilize a remote to turn on an off and also change the monitor settings such as wide screen, color, contrast etc. etc.  I am wondering if it is possible without using the remote to turn these on and off without loosing the settings such as contrast etc etc.  I really wanted to run these with a remote turn on of some sort so I can control them from the front seat or dvd player.  Seems silly that they wouldn't have a remote turn on wire.  For those of you with experience with these let me know what you think.. I was thinking I could get away with running cheaper montiors but in the end this will probably irritate me enough to just pick up a couple of Alpine monitors...

The monitors should keep their current settings when they are turned off, so you may not need to run any sort of remote turn-on to them. If you want to have them turn on with the DVD player, you can use the remote turn-on lead from that unit to activate a relay for the monitors' power.
