I am trying to install a overhead dvd player and monitor in a 2005 chevy tahoe.  This unit will replace the factory dome light and 2nd rear AC control. (the first is up front). When i disconnect  the factory dome light and ac control, the AC unit stops working.  Does any know how to resolve this....

You have to plug in the rear ac controls then shove it into the headliner. Either that or relocate it. But you just have to plug in the rear ac controls.

Some companies offer a vehicle specific console to mount their video systems in GM trucks that don't have a sunroof. See if you can use or adapt one to your unit. They make the install alot easier and look great.

PLEASE NOTE I HAVE NEVER TRIED THIS SO I CAN'T GUARANTEE ANYTHING. I AM POSTING IT IN GOOD FAITH AND IT APPEARS IT SHOULD WORK FINE! ATTEMPT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

With that out of the way, let's move on..

Do you have the rear AC AND HEAT controls and a 16 pin connector? If so, it looks like you can do the following:

- Unplug the rear ac controls.
- Jump pin A5 (WHITE) to pin B5 (WHITE)
- Jump pin A6 (RED) to pin B6 (RED)
- Jump pin A7 (DARK BLUE) to pin B7 (DARK BLUE)
- Jump pin A8 (BLACK) to pin B8 (BLACK)

Now turn on the vehicle and try to control the rear air from the front controls. Should be pretty straight forward there should only be two of each color in that plug (2 white wires, 2 red wires, and 2 black wires), except for the dark blue which there should be 3 dark blue wires. The same color wires should all be on on top of the other in the plug. DOUBLE CHECK THE PIN LOCATIONS I GAVE TO BE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT ONES! IF ANY PINS DON'T MATCH UP, I WOULD ABORT THE PROCESS!

If you feel brave and decide to give it a go, let me know how it works out. If not, I will try it next time I get a chance too, but it probably won't be for a while.
