I plan to install a drop down lcd unit in my 2002 suburban. The unit came with wiring diagrams which are straightforward enough. I am putting the unit where the existing dome light sits, can I take my +12V power from the dome wiring or must I route in through the headliner to the fuse block. The instructions are unclear.

I would run a wire from the fuse box to the LCD monitor . This will ensure a clean and trouble free connection to the LCD monitor and also fuse this connection even if it is still connected to a fuse in the fuse box.

If you do use the dome light wire, make sure that it doesn't turn on when the doors are opened or the interior lights are on.
