Avic-D1, 2001 Mustang

im installing a avic-D1 in a mustang bullet (GT) 2001... i hooked everything up, but i am just having two problems one is finding the vss and the reverse gear wires, color code? and the other problem is that the car has a factory amplifier, well i placed the car back together without the navigation part hooked up and the first problem i had is that the unit tells me the ebrake is not connected right, but i am positive that it is?? so im not sure but the next problem is that the sound doesnt sound like it did with the stock unit, it sounds worse?? im guessing the amplifiers are bypassed without the stock unit, is there anything i can do to correct this problem?? please help, and thank you!

what harness did you use to plug the D1 up to the factory plugs? If you try to bypass the amp, you'll find all you get are the highs. A harness like Metra's 70-5519 would do the trick.

im not sure but i think that has to be the problem because the harness i have only has one end on it

Ford has different sounds systems are requires specific harnesses.  Do a dummy order on crutchfield for your specific vehicle and see what kind of harness it recommends.  Compare with what you have.

For the brake wire, consider doing the bypass and then just ground the parking brake.  This way you can control the nav screen while vehicle is in motion.

I installed one of these in a 98 Explorer.  It's a great unit at a great price.
