2002 Toyota 4Runner speed sensor wire

Hey, i just installed the new alpine NVE-N872A navigation. i hooked it up to the alpine IVA-D310 head unit in my 2002 toyota 4runner.

i got the wire diagram for my car from the shop i used to install at and it didnt help me a bit. haha. i knew that there were only 2 trouble wires that i needed the diagram for, and neither of them are listed on the wire diagram. go figure!

#1 - vehicle speed sense wire (color and location)

#2 - reverse wire (color and location)

anyways, ive got the whole thing installed except these last two wires. can anybody help me out with these wires please? i checked the diagrams listed on this site but it didnt list them.

ok, i just found the VSS. man was that pain. its at the ECU behind the glove box. GREEN/ orange wire.

for those of you who are searching out this info to do it yourself, there are 4 or 5 harnesses going into the ECU. its in the only harness with the white tape around it on the right side of the ECU . that info should make your life much easier.

now i just have to find the reverse wire!

whew! what a long night. its 5:10am and i just got done with the reverse wire.

thats what i did. i took off the tail light to see what color the wire was - however, its a different color on the tail light (RED / blue) than it is up in the kick panel (WHITE/ blue). i just took off the drivers door jam, took a utility knife and cut away the tape around the wire in the door jam that runs to the back of the truck and i took a test light and tested each wire until i found it (there was about 30 wires).

at any rate, total install time took me 2 and a half hours to do everything except find the reverse and vss wire (i didnt know where they were). then it took me probably another 4 hours to take apart my car and figure out where the last 2 wires were in the vehicle and wire it up. i may have been able to do it quicker if i had day light. i started this at 730pm and just finished it at 5am. i was using a droplight and flashlight in my driveway. it was annoying, but worth it

now i have another problem though. my truck has larger tires on it than the stock ones (in diameter). so, for example, the speedometer and vss think im driving 40mph and my actual vehicle is traveling along at maybe 42 or 43 mph. this makes me hit every intersection about 20 or 25 feet before the nav thinks im hitting the intersection. this is very annoying because lets say i make a right turn on Main St, well, the nav shows me turning 25 feet before main st and it thinks im driving in the grass. after a few seconds it corrects itself and puts my car onto main st after the turn. but, its annoying none the less.

i think i need to get new tires that are stock size
