Hello,
Doing my due-diligence before following up w/ an ebay purchase.
I Just received a gntx-177 that was listed as having the compass, temperature, and auto dimmimg features along with the temperature probe.
I just received it today and the mirror only has the buttons 'compass / mirror'. My understanding is that it should say 'comp/temp' if had the temperature feature.
The attached pigtail is 5 wires out of the possible 7 pin options on th back of the mirror.
1 = pink w/ black stripe
2 = black w/ white stripe
3 = green
4 =gray
5 = pink
6 & 7 are empty.
My understanding is the pink/black = 12v hot, BLACK/ white = ground, green is for back-up circuit, gray & pink are for outside dim, and pins 6 & 7 would be for temp if applicable.
I just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly before engaing w/ the seller.
BTW: the mirror was supposedly from a '98 Buick La Sabre.
The two wires are from the temp probe: black w/ white stripe & green w/ black stripe.
-------------
Thanks,
Steve

Here is the low down on the connections to a Gentex mirror (with comp and temp) cut from a late model GM product. The connector pin numbers are found on the wire incursion side of the mating connector. GM wire harness color function PIN 1 PINK POWER +12 volts PIN 2 BK CHASSIS, GND PIN 3 LT GRN BACKUP LIGHTS PIN 4 GY TO AUTO DIM OUTSIDE MIRROR PIN 5 PINK TO AUTO DIM OUTSIDE MIRROR PIN 6 DR GRN/WT TEMP PROBE PIN 7 BK/WT TEMP PROBE Note: Pin 3 is to be connected to the backup lights to turn off the auto dim feature in reverse. If you intend not to use this feature connect the LT GRN wire to chassis ground. If this pin is floating the auto dim will not work properly. Hope this helps. Walt I'm thinking you're right that it should have the temp and compass buttons but, I am not for sure. That's why I would try calling gentex themselves |
