How did this happen?   Anyways, the unit works but when I try to watch dvd it gives me an error-02-9E and won't eject. I can get a grip on the dvd with a roach clip but how do I open the mechanism?

Two choices...send it in to pioneer and bit*** about the cd getting sttuck and demain a new one OR bust out the screwdriver and wrench and take it apart

With that unit its an older unit and Pioneer had a problem with it breaking discs. The disc would fragment so It would read as if a disc was not in it and now you have another disc stuck in it. The fragmented disc is jamming the mechanism and wont allow it to eject the intact disc. I recommend sending it out for service because more than likely you have some laser damage as well which means it wont read cds/dvds once you get the other disc out plus the ejection mechanism still wont work. I used to work for a custom shop in DE and we were constantly sending them back for people. We ended up not selling them and we had to upgrade all our customers to the 7500dvd for like 50% of the difference between the two units.

Now thats what I was looking for. Thanks a million. You are probably correct, I got the dvd out but problem remains. I will try to service it myself.   F*&* pioneer.
