I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 and an AVIC-D1. My installer did not hook up the pink speed sensor wire. I would like to do this myself, or at least get an idea of where it is now so that I can discuss with him.

I looked at the wiring info on this site. It says the speed sensor is a dark green / yellow wire from the PCM. So my questions are:

1) Is the PCM located behind the passenger kick panel? If so, I can't get the panel off - any idea?
2) I see a large bundle of wires from the kick panel, goes up behind the glove box, and across the dash. Are these the wires?
3) I hooked up the AVIC pink wire to the dark green / yellow wire in this bundle, behind the glovebox (couldn't get the kick panel off...). Turned on AVIC, looked at diagnostic info, drove around the block, still reading zero. Am I wrong? Or does it take some time to register?
4) I am not sure this is the correct bundle, only because the same diagram says there is suppose to be a white / light green wire for the reverse lamps, and I don't see any white wires in the bundle.

Please - any guidance? Thanks!

Derek

Woops. I thought the PCM was INSIDE on the firewall. Now I realize it must be OUTSIDE in the engine bay. Is this the PCM? If so, any idea which bundle? Wow, that's a lot of wires...

This is my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 AT... I installed the N2 recently.  Both the VSS and the Reverse wire are by the PCM, which, yes is in the engine compartment.  I have a picture of the install.  The wire on the right is the VSS wire (solder & tape) while the one on the left (in the t-tap, got lazy) is the reverse wire, which is only hot when the vehicle in RUNNING and in reverse.  Again, the engine must be turned over to make this wire go hot.

REVERSE : White w/ light green BY (next to) the PCM       -- it was on the front bumper side of the plug that's on the fender there...

VSS:  Dark Green w/ Yellow    IN (connected to) the PCM

Reminder... This is my '04 and it's a 1500... It seems to be similar to yours so you might use it as a guide.

Hope this helps!

Thanks dstang - that helps a lot.  Now I know I am in the right place.  I was looking inside the car at first.  Who knows what I initially tapped into...  Its dark now, so I will have a look tomorrow.  I believe the wiring is similar to the 2005s.  At this point, I am going to point these wires out to my installer and let them do it since I already paid for the install, and they skipped these steps.  Maybe they thought I wouldn´t notice, or they forgot.  Doesn´t matter, I will direct them to these wires.

Cool.
