I have a 2004 Toyota 4Runner with the AVIC-D1 installed.  My problem is that it doesn't look stock.  I want it to look sleek like it's supposed to be there but it sticks out the depth of the LCD.  I've had toyota's before and have always had this problem.  Is there any way to mount the D1 completley flush? Hope you can see it in the picture.

Thanks.

Won't that disperse the weight all to the back?  The bracket doesn't seem too sturdy in my opinion.  Seems like that would shift too much weight.  The unit is pretty bulky if you've never held one.

I too would redrill the bracket holes. If they seem flimsy, add a brace to the back of the unit or make new brackets out of a heavier (thicker) steel. If the part that the factory bracket attaches to in the subdash is flimsy then strengthen that also.

Just watch out that it's not too far back to where something behind the dash could block airflow to the fan.

yeah but the toyota bracket mount is already pretty far forward.  any further forward i'm afraid there would be too much weight in back.
