Vehicle; 2005 Tundra Double Cab, non JBL sustem.
Shortly after purchasing it I had my Clarion VRX610 hu installed. I'm realizing now that I should have spent a few more dollars and purchased a double din nav or nav ready hu. Since that time I have had the center of the dash off a couple of times hooking up a 10 disc dvd player and making a few minor fit ajustments. My thoughts are that this job should not be too difficult.
After doing a lot of research I'm finding the aftermarket double din hu's with nav or nav ready demensions are approx. 7"w x 4"h +/- a couple of cm's.
My question is; Since the dash opening on my Tundra is 7 7/8" wide, what are the installers using to fill the void on each side of the hu? Is there a standard kit or is it custom cut abs?
Any installation tips would be greatly appreciated.

I usually use fiberglass and ABS plastic to fill the gap in and to flush mount the unit into the opening.

Are you cutting an entire faceplate out of abs or fiberglass or cutting pieces to cover the void on each side? Thanks for the response.

I usually cut out the template for the entire area because this adds strength to the face of the factory peice. It also gives you mounting surface for the short strand fiberglass to adhere to.

They are probably using the SCOSCHE plates that go on either side. That's what they used to fill the gap on my 4Runner. Model number TA1465B fitls 2000-UP toyota double ISO DIN trim brackets. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the information Velocity Motors and trdtim! Since I'm not an expert installer I'll check ot the Schosche kit. Maybe oine of the local shops hs one available. Beyond that I'll leave it to the pros for the install.
