Im new to all this, so any help would be great. I just bought a 2003 GMC Sierra extended cab to go back and forth to work in, and for road trips which I do alot. Im looking for the cheapest possible way to have a dvd player and monitor put in my truck. Im good at installing everything, but I just want to cover my bases.
I was looking at a Power Acoustik dvd/cd player and a boss monitor ( i know its cheap, but thats what I want). The only thing is I dont know how any of this is going to be played through my speakers... Is there another control unit or something I need to buy? Do I need to buy another new head unit that has inputs for dvd players? OR, is there a really cheap head unit that plays dvds and cds and display on a monitor? Thanks again for any help.
You have lots of choices when you come to this . You could simply go with a in dash dvd player with the fold out screen(kenwood/alpine/etc.) if it is justfor the front seats to view(not that we do this sort of thing). These would then run your factory speakers from the built in amp. The other route using the factory deck is to use a FM modulator to get the sound over a radio station input. This is the cheapest and also poorest signal, but it may be enough to keep you happy for awhile. Check out you local shops and get some ideas.

a true canadian eh!
So if I want to mount the dvd player in the opening above my cup holders, all I have to do is buy a FM modulator? And this will allow me to play the movies through all the speakers? Will it be a surround sound signal, or just the same through each speaker? Thanks for the help.
