That piece only inputs audio into the player and charges the ipod, it doesn't give you control or display on your screen.

The Pac iPAC-AFT interface allows direct digital audio sound from your Apple iPod into your Pioneer stereo that is external "satellite tuner ready". For ease of identification, Pioneer radios that are XM ready, Sirius ready or Sat ready will have this printed on the faceplate, box or owners manual. Known Pioneer models that are satellite ready include the AVIC-D1, AVIC-D2, AVIC-N1, AVIC-N2, AVIC-N3, AVIC-Z1, AVH-P5700DVD, AVH-P6600DVD, AVH-P7500DVD, DEH-P8MP, DEH-P47DH, DEH-P77DH, DEH-P80MP, DEH-P470MP, DEH-P670MP, DEH-P770MP, DEH-860MP, DEH-P960MP, DEH-P3700MP, DEH-P4700MP, DEH-P5000MP, DEH-P6700MP, DEH-P6800MP, DEH-P7700MP, DEH-P8600MP, DEH-P9600MP, FH-P4200MP, FH-P5000MP.

<>Note: Cannot be used in conjunction with a satellite tuner or cd changer. Industry term "daisy chaining" will not work.

Your iPod must be updated with the most recent version of firmware from Apple. To get it click HERE

The Pac iPAC-AFT provides control, display and charging of your iPod on your Pioneer radio.

The Pac iPAC-AFT relies on the pioneer radio's ability to display text, such as song title or artist information from your ipod. Some entry level Pioneer satellite ready radios are capable of displaying at least one line of text. The Pac iPAC-AFT will operate on Pioneer single line text radios but it is designed to perform optimally on Pioneer radios capable of displaying multiple lines of text. This information can be found in your Pioneer owners manual.

General Operation Pac iPAC- AFT:

  • Browse menu - search for titles on your iPod in the categories Artist, Album, Genre and playlist.
  • Next Track, Previous Track, Fast Forward, Menu up, Menu down, Rewind, Repeat, Random

Features:

  • 11' foot iPod cable included.
  • Pioneer stereo connection cable included.
  • Cable and Electronics are constructed with the best components you can buy.
  • Charges your iPod with a dedicated IC circuit that will not overcharge. Connect the red wire to a 12 volt switched source and the black wire to vehicle ground.
  • Professional installation is recommended at your cost. To avoid short circuits and other damage to your vehicle and or this interface, the battery should be disconnected before attempting install.
  • Works on iPod Generations 3, 4 Mini, NANO and iPod Video/Photo models (audio only).

So what did they say when you called PAC?  I don't even see it on their website.  I emailed them about 2 months ago telling them they should make a better Ipod adapter for my D1 and they said it was a good idea and that it was not something they were working on yet. I did notice it says it is still restriced to show a certain amount of lines and to read the pioneer owners manual.  So it kinda sounds like it might work just like the pioneer version.

well this is not on theire website. I found it on ebay but pac is making it, whoever is selling it took theire own photos. When I called I asked if they could put pictures up of it in action. I told them I was comparing it to Pioneers version and I wanted to se if looked any better. He said he would email me when some thing was ready.

CALL THEM and se if we can push this along. It sounds good so far I just dont want to spend the money if its just like pioneers POS. More people should ask them to post pics in use. They answer the phone pretty fast does not sound like a huge company.

pioneers problems isn't their interface, it's the decks harware itself. THe AVH-P5700DVD and new AVIC units have a way better interface.
