OK, so I installed my IVA-W200 Alpine 2 DIN unit.I used a Metra harness to hook up to factory. My only problem is that when I hit the brakes my monitor does one of two things:
1. When playing a DVD it cycles to the control screen and then back to the picture.
2. When on any other source (other than video) it flashes to black and then back on.

I am guessing this has to do with a power surge coming from a brake relay?

Anyone have any suggestions how to fix?

Should I pull constant power from the battery, instead of the wiring harness? To give me cleaner power?

FYI: I have a 40 AMP relay hooked to the ignition and constant from the harness as well. It powers two monitors, video amp, Sirius and back up camera. However unhooking all of that still provides the same results to the screen, so I don't think that is the problem?

Help!

you have to make ure your yellow black wire in connected to your brake and your yellow blue wire is connected to your toggle switch or ebrake if it is reversed what happen is you make get picture but when you press brake you removing the ground and the screen will go dead for that bull alpine video lock will engage. make sure your wires are connected correctly and that you disable video lock when you want to. or go ahead and buy a pac tr -7 which after programing will automatically do that for you. again it sounds to me like your wires are either crossed or you got your yellow black and yellow blue connected to the wrong wire.

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

I am connected only to a video bypass for the brake wires. No brake wires are connected to the truck. All the wires are connected correctly as stated in the instructions.

The video bypass works flawlessly and cycles on in about 10 seconds.

Bypass unit is grounded directly to the chasis.

I thought it was more of a power problem than a video bypass problem? Am I off base here?

OK, I checked all of my power options out. Ran a new clean constant power source from the battery to the HU. Double checked all of my wire.

I still get a black screen for a second when I tap the brakes, in any mode.

I am going to unhook the bypass altogether and see what happens.

Other than this, everything works fine.

All of my wires to the bypass from the HU are connected per the instructions as well.

Help!

OK, I have unhooked the bypass altogether and unhooked all of my accessories: monitors, sirius, video amp, BU camera.

The only thing hooked up is the Alpine HU and I still get a pause on the screen when I hit the brakes.

I am at a loss. I don't know what else to check?
