The wiring should be pretty straight forward, normal colors, and should be printed on a sticker that is on the control box, this will include din cables.  As far as wiring a video source you are going to have to get ahold of a navigation plug and splice the video into the navigation input.

The main brain you should get with the monitor has lots of Auxilary input options which allow for dvd player, video player, etc... If you bought it 2nd hand you need the main brain, which is simular to the size of an amp.  This is the key to add ons.

There are no video inputs on a cva 1000, also alpine doesn't recommend this because there is no brake wire to hook up as a safety switch.  This is the old unit, before video became big.

Yeah you just have to get ahold of a navigation din cable.  Also you can ask any alpine dealer to give you a copy/fax of the pins, Alpine does supply this and it will list exactly what wires do what.  After you wire it up then just switch to navigation and your video source will be on the screen.  Make sure you get the correct navigation harness for the 1000 and you should be able to buy it separetly.

to put the video into the monitor, you just use the cable going to the monitor.. there will be a green wire with a shield.. just strip the data cable back, get that wire and solder a RCA connector onto the wire going to the monitor.. not to the brain of the cva 1000... when you do this, you will have to hit the v-sel button to see the video.. also, there is a brake wire.. I believe it is yellow/blue.. just ground it and reset the brain..

you DO NOT need to get a nav cable..
