I am having 2 problems with my Avic D1:

FM and AM reception is terrible.. I hooked up the stock antenne wire. Dont know what else to do..

Also, the unit seems warm to me. IS this common?

What kind of car? Some vehicles have an antenna amplifer that has to be powered.

As far as it being warm, yes this is probably normal. It has an amplifier in it and they get warm.
