You chould always attach the video system to something, being it wood, plastic or metal that is also attached to the vehicle's roof bracing. This fact will be very evident as you drive over bumps. You need to determine approximately where you intend to mount the unit and cut a small hole in the headliner in the middle of the area. Use a light and mirror to inspect the area above the hole and around it to find something to attach to. You may have to get creative depending if there is a sunroof. The sunshade passes directly against some of the overhead beams, so don't do anything that will cause the fabric to catch and tear. Try to construct something light but strong to reduce the overall weight.

this sounds very stupid but is it always better to cut  in the middle just a bit before the b pillar in  the center of the vehicle headliner

You have two viable options here:

1) Cut a piece of wood long enough to span at the beginning of each curve down at the sides of the headliner, get it above the headliner, and mount to that

-or-

2) (recommended method) Cut a piece of wood just little bit larger than the mounting area of the monitor and glue it to the metal part of the roof itself using glue (Gorilla Glue or Epoxy Glue for wood and metal [recommended]) The Epoxy glue will need to be mixed will only give you a short working time (5-15 minutes) but it will give you the stronger bond. Gorilla Glue expands just a little to give better coverage of the wood, but it may not be as strong as the epoxy (in most cases) but more than strong enough to hold on to your monitor. Then mount up to it.
